The SLIM-RFA-1 is a Dual Amplifier, designed for frequencies between 1 GHz and 2 GHz. Each Buffer Amplifier will provide approximately 0 dB gain. The main purpose of the amplifier is not to provide gain, but reverse isolation. The reverse isolation (S12) should be about -38 dB. This module was developed with the PWB-RFA as the core design. Click to see the PWB-RFA Web Page.
It should be noted that this buffer amplifier was designed with the intention of using the MMIC Amplifier (U1 or U2) in saturation, (it is not operated within its linear region). Its output is intended to drive a mixer's L port. For linear operation, the input signal should have a maximum power level of +4 dBm.

If only one amplifier is needed, the other chain of components may be deleted. For a dual Buffer for the same signal, the source signal can be split with an external power divider (6 dB resistive divider) and fed to each input (J1 and J3). The 14 dB input attenuators can then be changed to 8 dB attenuators.
